What We Do

Gen Z Delivering Hope & Security.

Bread for America is a youth-led 501(c)3 non-profit co-founded by William He & Ezra Lee in 2021. Two eighth-graders at the time, they were disheartened to see and hear about the reality of food-insecurity that countless in their own community and that millions of other Americans must endure. Thus, through compassion and radical empathy, Bread for America was born.

Now, Bread for America works around-the-clock fighting to feed children and communities enduring cycles of poverty — one delivery at a time.

Guided by our founding principles, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and the spirit and energy of the next generation of future leaders – Bread for America envisions a nation free from poverty and hunger, where every American is in good nutritional health and unburdened by inequality. And it is together, that we will grow that ambitious agenda from an “impossible pipe-dream” to imminent reality.

For two years, COVID-19 opened new divisions and worsened old wounds - from income inequality to racial disparity. While America has been on the road to recovery, too many are still being left behind. A recent Gallup poll revealed that 10% of Americans were undernourished, the highest rate in decades — and that’s tens of millions not getting the nutrients they need, or the access they deserve. Yet, this dark past doesn't have to be our future.

But, this isn't just our fight. It's going to take every single one of us to fight with the working-class and relieve hungry families – and your voice matters. We need your help to join us in building a future where no child goes hungry; a future where no family needs to worry about putting food on the table at dinnertime; a future where our forgotten communities are no longer forgotten; and a future where food is a right, not a privilege.

Every dollar is the difference between a family fed and a future where food is either a right or a luxury for the wealthy. Together, let's bring a sea of hope crashing down onto the shores of America.

How We Work.

Donation

We accept donations and contributions of any amount, from anyone, at any time, anywhere.

Collection

The contributions we receive are used to organize local food drives and purchase essential food items in bulk, hire drivers, as well as invest in community fridges.

Distribution

Collected supplies are then distributed equitably by need to our local branches spanning dozens of states. Proceeds directly support local food banks, restaurants, churches, and working class communities impacted by the scourge of food insecurity.

Preparation

Food items, meal kits, and grocery boxes are prepared by restaurants, vendors, and other local partners to meet the needs of each community.

Transportation

Our dedicated grassroots team of volunteers and drivers picks up food parcels and brings hope & security directly to hungry families in need.

Satisfaction

Every delivery is one less hungry child, one more family fed, and one step closer to a future where food is either a right or a luxury for the wealthy.
